Especially when it is cloudy and the light intensity is constantly changing, an ultra-fast MPPT controller improves energy harvest by up to 30% compared to PWM charge controllers and up to 10% compared to slower MPPT controllers

The first number in the product name indicates the maximum voltage that can be connected to the PV input of this controller with a (series) solar panel. The second number indicates the maximum charge current of the regulator at 12, 24, 36 or 48V depending on the type of regulator. There are regulators for 12/24V, but also regulators that can also charge 36V and 48V battery banks (see manual).

Load output:
A deep discharge of the battery can be prevented by connecting all loads to the load output. This output disconnects the load when the battery has been discharged to a preset voltage. Alternatively, an intelligent battery management algorithm can also be selected: see BatteryLife in the manual. The load output is short-circuit proof. Some loads (especially inverters) are best connected directly to the battery and the inverter remote control to the load output. You may need a special interface cable. See the manual for this.

BatteryLife: intelligent battery management
If a solar charge controller cannot fully charge the battery in one day, the result is often that the battery fluctuates continuously between 'partially charged' and 'fully discharged'. Due to this condition (no regular full charging), a lead-acid battery will be irreparably damaged within a few weeks or months. The BatteryLife algorithm monitors the state of charge of the battery and, if necessary, slightly increases the load disconnect level from day to day (by disconnecting the load earlier) until the harvested solar energy is sufficient to charge the battery to almost 100%. to charge. From then on, the load disconnect level is modulated so that the battery is charged to nearly 100% approximately once a week.

The Victron SmartSolar MPPT charge controller can also be set to follow the traditional charge control mode with a fixed disconnect voltage. The load output is short-circuit protected and can power capacitive loads such as an inverter. Resin cast electronics protects the electronic components from the environment.

Automatic recognition of the battery voltage
The Victron Smartsolar MPPT charge controller automatically adapts to a 12V or 24V system.

Bluetooth Smart built-in: no dongle required
The wireless solution to set up, monitor and update the controller via App.
