This is a traditional weigh sling, but with some added features, designed to allow you to safely transfer fish from the water to your unhooking mat, and vice versa, and weigh them - it's not a retainer and cannot be safely used for that purpose. This sling is made of durable nylon. It has strong, lightweight powder-coated two-piece metal rods on the top to provide rigidity and make the weighing process safer for the fish. When the sling is not in use, the rods can easily be split in the middle - they are elasticated - and the sling can be folded into the compact stink bag that is included (when folded, the sling fits in the Basix Cradle unhooking mat or in an outside pocket of a Compac Rod Hol-dall). A strong tension strap is attached to the bars on each side and provides good balance once attached to the hook of your scale, allowing the fish to be weighed safely. The bag has large drainage holes in the bottom, so that the water runs out quickly when you remove the fish in your rolled landing net from the bag and take it to the unhooking mat. A good quality, free-running zipper on both ends of the sling prevents the fish from slipping out during transport or weighing, and is easy to put on or take off.
